"The Accidental Brothers" are an acoustic group that can play as either a duo or a trio.  We play an upbeat & fun combination of Country, Acoustic Rock, Standards & Americana covering some of the greatest singer songwriters ever.  A night with the Accidental Brothers will include songs by Bob Dylan, Lyle Lovett, The Band, The Grateful Dead, Keb’ Mo’, Jim Croce, Patty Griffin, Tom Waites and many more.  We have a great time with our audience and keep the evening fun and relaxed.  The Accidental Brothers are a different type of acoustic group than you would normally see in that we all play multiple instruments that adds spice and variety to our arrangements. 

Alan Tofig (Vocals, Guitar & Mandolin):  Alan Tofig has been playing in the PA and NJ area since the late 90's. He has played as a side man with numerous musicians in the area as well as being a founding member and lead guitarist for the classic rock cover band "Well Strung." Recently, Alan was a guitarist & mandolin player for the "Eastern Hellbenders".  Alan brings a unique blend of influences to the band from traditional rock & blues to fingerstyle acoustic guitar.

Gerard Bernard: Vocals, Guitar, Harmonica & Flute:  Gerard Bernard, aka "The Lonesome Coyote", has been playing music since the age of 5 and has been in bands ever since. Moving to Houston he helped create one of the most creative bands to come out of the 80's underground scene there, The Reign, which toured the southern circuits and had a CMJ-charting song "Armageddon". Gerard now performs regularly in the New Hope/Lambertville area and is known for his great voice and interpretation of songs.  

Smilin' Ed Kramer, Banjo, Mandolin, Dobro & Vocals:  Smilin' Ed is one of the most sought after folk musicians in the area and has twanged his way from sea to shining sea for more than 4 decades.  The banjo is his favorite appendage, but also enjoys playing anything else with strings!  Since his move from Colorado to the Philadelphia area more than a decade ago, he's learned to love the east coast  and its warm embrace of folk music, cheesesteaks and scrappy banjo players with receding hairlines.  

Jim Hobson, Mandolin, Guitar, Accordian:  Jim is the most recent Accidental Brother.  He is one of the area's top mandolin players specializing in blue grass and traditional american music.  He also plays the Button Box Accordian and sings with the group.
